Our Story

As a young boy, Ryan Grandjambe had one important job—keep the grub box full for trips out on the land. Raised by his great-grandfather, Ubba pictured above, Ryan learned to hunt, fish, and gather, gaining a deep understanding of what it means to live in harmony with the land.
Every trip, he packed the food that would sustain them—food that represented more than nourishment. It symbolized connection: to the land, to the people, and to the generations who came before.

That early experience has since evolved into a powerful mission.

OUR
MISSION
Ubba’s Grub Hub Ltd., an Indigenous-led Food, Land & Energy Hub will ensure Northern communities have access to fresh, nutritious, and affordable food—grown by us, for us.
Our Goal
Our goal is to be a glowing green thumb sticking up high about the open pit mining sites because we want to show that life, growth, and hope are still possible. Even in places damaged by mining, we believe we can bring healing and a better future for our land and people.

Meet the Founder
Ryan Grandjambe
Born and raised in Fort McKay, Ryan Grandjambe grew up learning the values of food, land, and community from his great-grandfather, Ubba. As a boy, he was responsible for keeping the grub box full on their trips out on the land—an experience that taught him food is not only survival, but connection.

Today, Ryan carries those teachings forward as the founder of Ubba’s Grub Hub Ltd., leading an Indigenous-led initiative to secure food sovereignty, sustainability, and healthier futures for northern communities.
